Volunteering with an animal rescue service is a very gratifying experience that is hard to match! It makes us so happy to see homeless and neglected pets become members of families that are very loved. We know that the dogs appreciate their new homes. Letters, e-mails, visits and phone calls from families that have adopted are constant reminders of the goodwill spread by pet rescue groups such as 2nd Chance Animal Shelter.

Thank you for wanting to volunteer with our Rescue Service!

Check out the Events Page for more details on our weekly adoption events as well as special fundraisers too.

Adult volunteers are always welcome!

There is much to do at 2nd Chance Animal Shelter.  Please bring your talents and expertise because we would love for you to be a part of our family in any capacity. If you are over eighteen years of age and interested in becoming a volunteer, please email info@2ndchanceanimalshelter.com

Our teen volunteers are an integral part of our weekend adoption events. Helping to show, exercise and socialize dogs, as well as generally creating a positive impression of 2nd Chance Animal Shelter as the public meets us is a very important role.

Some of the basic requirements to be a teen volunteer and receive community service hours are:

- Volunteers must be 14 years of age.

- Volunteers must attend a brief orientation and training meeting held with at least one parent. During this meeting, the duties and responsibilities will be outlined and explained.

- Volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of 40 hours of service and our Volunteer Coordinator will sign hours ONLY after 40 hours or more have been served.

- Volunteers should expect to be in attendance from start to finish at each of the weekly adoption events.

- Prior to applying to become a volunteer, please send an email indicating your interest to info@2ndchanceanimalshelter.com. The Rescue Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch with you soon afterwards.
